I am getting so close.\u00a0<\/p>\n

It shouldn’t be a surprise that at this stage of the trip, reflection becomes a bit of a preoccupation.\u00a0 I find myself musing on the places and people who have touched each day.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The waitresses who steered me away from the soup I really wanted with the a simple raised eyebrow.\u00a0 The garage mechanics who insisted on rechecking my tires\u00a0just to ensure that I\u00a0read the gauge accurately.\u00a0 And the countless hotels clerks who kindly suppressed their shocked\u00a0looks\u00a0at the sight of\u00a0me\u00a0in my lovely yellow rain gear and a full day’s helmet hair.\u00a0<\/p>\n

But mostly, I find myself thinking back on all those people who stumbled on me at my lowest points.\u00a0 Who, at once, recognized my exigency and selflessly responded.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Please meet Charley Cox.<\/p>\n

Charley was born and raised in Knoxville, Tennessee.\u00a0 Married twice, his daughter Natalie is an accomplished artist living in New York City.\u00a0 Having worked for Peterbilt trucks, he is a master mechanic specializing in vintage and Boss Hoss Motorcycles.\u00a0 The latter being a 1500lb specialty bike that you have to see to believe.<\/p>\n

A Boss Hoss is to a Honda Reflex what George Carlin is to Carrot Top.<\/p>\n

But I digress.\u00a0 Charley\u00a0joined the ranks\u00a0of my roadtrip angels when I was working out backup plans to the weather.\u00a0 He not only provided encouragement, he introduced me to the incredible motorcycling community in Knoxville.\u00a0 And if that wasn’t enough, to ensure that I could make it to Washington, Charley personally provided a tow.\u00a0 Simply amazing.<\/p>\n
